Hide and Seek - Research

We have researched on this film because this fits our chosen genre which is thriller/horror.

"After the suicide of his wife, the psychiatrist Dr. David Callaway (Robert De Niro) decides to move with his traumatized daughter Emily (Dakota Fanning) from New York to the country to give more attention to her. In their huge old house, Emily finds a new and violent invisible friend called Charlie, making David very concerned with her mental state".

Characters:
-Main character is Dakota Fanning, the little girl.
-She seems vulnerable and very easy to make her cry and upset
-The fact that she is lonely after her mothers death and that she is 'Traumatized', is perfect because it is her weakness.
-The creaters could use this to start the storyline
- She is also represented as being scared, weak and vulnerable

Who is the main character in our production?
-Aminul is the main character in our movie
-He is representing a working - class gentlemen
-Shahina is the dead lady who follows Aminul

Why we changed the conventions is because:
-We want to challenge the stereotypes of women being weak and men being the heroes
-We want something different so the audience be intrigued and interested
-We also want the audience to be engaged to the movie

Target Audience

In S.A.W. ProductionZ, we aim to:
- Have a target audience for people who enjoy watching horror
- The audience consumption could tend to be:
- Couples
- Teens (rating 15)
We would make it a 15 and not an 18 because we know that lots of people would love to watch horror based films. We could lose many audiences because nowadays, the younger generation are the today's solution. What they want, is what they will get. This is in their expectations list. By creating a huge audience response, it increases the audience consumption. Overall, we will be creating a positive and stimulated response.

Brainstorming Ideas for our Coursework Production

- A horror based production
- Setting in a church with graves etc
- Characters include:
- Businnessman coming home from work
- A dead old scary woman walking around the church
Main Plot from beginning:
- Man coming home from work at night, decides to take a shortcut which is through the dark church
- He is unaware that he is being followed by the old, dead lady
- He realises he is being followed
- His life is in danger
- He is on the ground unconcious
- Fades away with ambulance sirens

Old Scary Lady

We chose this picture of an old lady who is the character from Drag Me To Hell. It looks scary which is perfect for our film or an idea of how a scary old women should look. As old women are stereotypically seen "SCARY", it is an excellent choice. She has some sort of deformity such as yellow, mashed out teeth, a dodgy eye, a stapled forehead, old wired grey hair and finally a wrinkly pale skin.
Overall, this image is perfect for our character. We can immediately brainstorm many ideas of how our scary character could look like.

St Dunstans Chruch/ Stepney

St Dunstan's church is a perfect location. As we researched on it, we found out that St Dunstan's has a lot of historical context. It had a lot of people who owned it and have now passed away. The history behind St Dunstan's is creepy, which is excellent for us as it will automatically create a scary scenio and atmosphere where we will have chills sent down our spine along with goosebumps.
